The Big "E" Eye Candy

Here are some of my current favorite listings on the big bad Ebay!

I really like the first pair of lamps, they are exactly the same as some I saw in a mid century shop in New Orleans called "Peaches".  The store had some super awesome stuff.  There was a pair of mod chairs that were just unbelievably cool.  I was able to snap a few quick pictures in the store.

See!  Very Mod......and sold :(

The same lamp!

...and a matching floor lamp.

Local Produce brought to my door? I'm in!

I'm very excited this week as we get our first delivery of local farm fresh produce delivered right to our door, this Thursday.  Sounds neat right!  Mr Honey was searching around on the web for a local community farm share program and found the site The Veggie Bin.  Unfortunately it only services a small area of Jacksonville, FL, but luckily we live in that area which is Riverside, Avondale, and Ortega.  Basically how it works is you pick one of the two bin types, 100% Local or 100% Organic and then how many deliveries you want per month (weekly, biweekly, etc).  That easy!  They even put a photo of what to expect in your weekly bin on their website. This photo is of the last bin delivered in June, since deliveries only run from October to June.

All this for $25 bucks! (plus it included some fresh corn that wasn't pictured)

So if by chance you are a local reader, I say try it!  It is so important to support local businesses, especially farmers.  Now if you are not local and this intrigues you I suggest searching the web for any local CSA (Community Supported Agriculture) programs in your area.  You never know what is out there until you look!

There is no place like home.....for thrifting.

Hi guys!  I have been missing for a little while because Mr. Honey and I have been on vacation in the Big Easy.  We had a blast and I saw some awesome stuff that I can't wait to share, one thing being the Southern Food and Beverage Museum.  Part of a museum dedicated to booze...Yes!  Anyways I'm saving that for a little later.

So on our route to New Orleans we stopped in Tallahassee for a night to visit with Mr. Honey's brother and his fiance.  They were great and showed us around to some of the local thrift stores.  It was nice to shop in new places for a change, but unfortunately most of the thrifts were picked clean.  Probably because all of the vintage resell stores in the area.  Damn you FSU college hipsters!  Sadly that was the majority of the thrifting that was done while we were gone, though we did hit one place in Alabama, and a couple in Louisiana, with nothing to show for it.

Since I didn't find anything while we were gone I was jones'n to go out and see what I could find in town... and man did I find some great stuff.  So now I'm starting to believe there is no place like home for thrifting.  Here is the haul:

Gorgeous silver band bar set...How awesome is this!

Scandinavian enamel bowl, creamer, and decorative tile

Silver ombre glasses, Midwinter creamer, and Rosenthal cake plate

Teak cheese plate, Teak pipe holder, Dansk decanter, and a Heath chop platter

I hope everyone had a weekend as fruitful as I did.  Man it is good to be home!

Mid Century Drink Day - Bar Aid #46

So it is Friday evening...time for a cocktail.  This post tonight is going to be short and sweet.  I picked a number randomly from the jar......#46 Jamaica Ginger.

Awesomely enough, I had everything for this drink...which was a good thing!  It has been a tedious day and I really didn't feel like running to the store so I might have had to put the number back and fish for another

RECIPE:  2/3 Jamaica Rum, 1/3 Grenadine, 3 dashes each Maraschino and Curacao, 1 dash Angostura Bitters.  Shake well with ice, Strain into glass.

Lets get started....

Oh if you ever see one of these out and about I would pick it up.  This little guy is super convenient for drinks like this with a 2/3 to 1/3 ratio.  One side is marked a Jigger 1.5oz and the other a pony .75oz, makes measuring a breeze!

So once I have it all in the cocktail shaker.....SHAKE, SHAKE, POUR!

There you go a nice looking drink.

VERDICT - Yummy.  I would definitely drink this again..  While it does have a nice spice to it, I'm not sure why it is called a Jamaica Ginger.

Oh and is it weird that I have cocktail glasses that match my curtains? Ha!

Have a great weekend everyone!

I have moved in!

Yay! So I got to move into my new booth at Southern Crossings this week.  I'm super excited about my new spot.  I have even had a few sales in the two days that everything has been in place.  Sweet!  Here are a few quick photos I took on the first day.

Not sure if I'm a fan of the wallpaper that was in place when I moved in....I may take it off later.  Anyways I can't wait to see how this en devour turns out!

Mid Century Clocks : I should never be late, yet i am....

I love fun and funky mid century clocks.  I didn't even realize that I was collecting them at first, until I looked around and noticed that I have one or more in every room in the house.  Since I'm running out of space, I don't pick them up as much anymore, but if I see a particularly awesome one, it finds it's way home with me.  To which Mr. Honey says, "Another clock!?!"

Here are a some of my favorites:

The cool thing about this one is it can be hung on any side

Welby Starburst.  I love Welby's because of the design of the face

Ingram starburst

Tele-vision Flip clock that lights up!

Seth Thomas flip in wood case

Another TV flip clock, this lights up too.

Jax beer!

This last one is perfect for us since we live in Jacksonville (Jax) and Mr. Honey LOVES beers. Actually, love is probably too tame of a word, I swear when he talks to people about craft brewing it is a totally different language.  I try to follow along, but I'm just not into it....all I know is I don't like Hoppy beers.  Anyways, this clock hangs right next to the Kegerator in the kitchen.

Ciao

The Big "E" Eye Candy

My favorite drool worthy items of the week!

The large and gorgeous DuBarry sculptural lamp featured was actually purchased at a local estate sale.  I went to the sale especially to pick up this lamp, but it was out of my budget then...and definitely out of my budget now.  Sadness.

Enjoy!
