MAIL CALL: Now I have a pair!!

Beware the gray phantom
A pair of what you ask?  What could come in such an odd shaped package.....????

Answer:  an Adrian Pearsall wall hanging

The piece from the catalog

Now for the unveiling.....SHAZAMM!!

Looks good with the Brasilia!
As for the pair, this is the matching piece to one that I already have (but haven't shared with you...bad Becca).  The one that I already had has a different stain on the wood so it looks more reddish so I need to refinish it to match....plus I'm not a fan of the cream.  I'm thinking a royal blue would be nice.  What do you think?

A matching set!!
One piece of the cream one came apart in shipping so that helps in the decision to redo it.

So reddish....and a funky textury cream....REDO REDO

See such a difference in types of fabric
Can't wait to hang this baby!!

MAIL CALL!!! Happy little trees....

I almost thought I wasn't going to be able to report this one!  I have been eagerly awaiting this package since winning the auction on the big "E"...which for me means checking the delivery confirmation a few times a day because that will make it get here faster...Yes? (Please say I'm not the only one that does this).

So anyway, I was excited yesterday when I saw that it was marked delivered!!! Sweet! AND then not so happy when I got home to no package.  WHAT! I grumbled all night, mainly because I had this same thing happen last month with two packages that were delivered on the same day.  I thankfully received those, but only because the people who received them in error were honest and came to the house a week later.  I tried calling the post office but the lady I talked to said their tracking system was down and I would have to call back...which worked for me because she had a SERIOUS case of bitch-itis...she must not have been having a good day.

By now I'm starting to think it might be karma, since when I showed this item to one of my best friends he was like....

"Are you bidding on that tree?"  - J
"Yeah" - Me
"Me too" - J

AWKWARD.....all I could think is Oh shit....should I still bid on it?  But it is so awesome!!! What to do what to do.....then the next part of our conversation put everything in perspective.

"Game on" - J
"Well....I was the first bidder which makes it mine" - Me
"Not how Ebay works sweety" -J

At this point I was cracking up...Game on indeed.  Suck it! I WIN.....you can come and visit my trees but you are getting frisked on the way out.  AND since when I got home today my package was on my doorstep there are actual trees to visit.

Everybody...the trees
the trees.....Everybody

Happy little trees

They have found a new home!
They now look super fab in my shadowbox...I think they were made to go there!

MAIL CALL!!!

I love this sight when I come home after a long day at the office....

Ohhhh a present for me!  Okay, so I bought them myself....I'm good with it.  Let's see what these hold:

Seagull Pins

YAY!  I love these little guys.  They are made by a company called Buch & Deichmann of Denmark which started in the early 70s.  They made various accessories, like hair barrette, combs, bracelets and brooches.  This is my favorite design by them and as you can see below they came in a variety of colors.

I didn't realize I had so many!  Wouldn't a few of these look smashing grouped on a sweater.

And the last package is......

A super bright Kay Denning bracelet to add to my collection.  Sweet! I was very excited when I saw this baby on the big "E".  I've never seen a color combo like this one, I almost need sunglasses to look at it, it is so bright.  If you think this is cool, you should check out my whole collection.  I took some time this past weekend to photography most of it and create a tab for it, My Denning Addiction at the top of the page.  Enjoy!

I hope everyone has a great weekend!

Saddest Mail Call ever....

Sooooo....I have been rather excited over the past few days since I found a flat file cabinet that I liked visually AND that is the perfect shape to hold a chunk of my vintage jewelry.  Lets face it a lot of those cabinets are super ugly and VERY large.  They are always beige or gray and have rather industrial looking handles.

Since I have been looking for one for about two years; when I saw the one I liked on Etsy I jumped on it!  Now here comes the sad part....when I got home today....this is what the package looked like...

This is never a good sign....

 Ugh.  You suck UPS.

The whole piece got bent in shipping so I had a hard time getting the drawers out...after about 30 minutes of messing with it....It looked like so..

This almost ruined my day completely...but luckily I got off work early today and filled that free time with some great thrifting where I found this seemly innocent little mortar and pestle.

I paid a whole 50 cents for it.  I was thinking ok...it is cute and pink.  I might need it or something.  So when I got home and looked up the maker name on the bottom....I was shocked to find out it is made of finely powdered synthetic sapphire.  It is scientific quality lab equipment and retails for around $600.  WAHHhh.  Insane.  Not sure where to sell it but maybe just maybe I can turn it into a piece of Broyhill Brasilia (or two!)  Like magic!!

 Ciao

MAIL CALL!! - The best ever

This is one of my most exciting Mail Calls yet and with a package this big, I’m sure my Postman was glad this baby was sent Greyhound so he didn’t have to lug it up to my door.  Ha!

Now for the reveal!.....
A Witco World Map!!!  I was literally jumping up and down when it came in.  I got the call this past Sunday from Greyhound and once I heard their message that my package was received I couldn’t get there fast enough.  I seriously couldn’t stop smiling even when I was trying to jam it into the back of my Prius.  It just BARELY fit…and by barely I mean I had to pull the driver and passenger seat forward quite a bit.  That was a very awkward drive home…one of the few time I wish I was shorter (I’m 5’9).  I felt like a granny being so close to the wheel, but it was all worth it.  All I need to do was give it a little cleaning to make the wood gleam and hang this fine thing up!  I was torn on where to hang it, either in the dining room so it is the first thing people see when they walk in the door….or in the bedroom where I would see it upon waking every morning.  Hmmm tough choice.

I think I have decided on the dining room for now....I know it needs to be slid to the right a little to be centered on the wall, I just got tired of fussing with it. Ha!  What do you think?  Kinda awesome right!

I LOVE IT!

MAIL CALL !!!

Yeah! Mail.  I love mail...at least the non bill package type.  It feels like Christmas in June!  This week I have found a few more piece of my Jackson china designed by Paul McCobb.

 Here is what I have!

and....Here's what I got!!!

I just love this pattern.

I am close! to a full set of 8...so close...then I can officially scratch it off the Want/Need list.  *Sigh* the missing pieces will come...I just have to be patient.  Something I'm not good at.

MAIL CALL !!!

So....I didn't win the Witco World Map...this makes me sad....BUT...I did get a few goodies in the mail the week and I figured I would share.

A Majestic Z floor lamp.

Close up!

Alas the floor lamp didn't come with shades, but pickers can't be choosers and at the price I got it for, I jumped on it as fast as possible. I think it was on eBay for all of ten minutes before I clicked the Buy It Now button; Then started clapping and jumping up and down which is what I do when I get giddy. I know the happy war dance must look bizarre but I don't care.

Here is my table lamp that I stole the shade from...it looks naked now!

I also in this weeks mail call is my new bullet planter...which matched my other one exactly!  I didn't think I would find one exactly the same...but I did. Now it has found its home on the other side of the fireplace.

So not bad for a week's haul...and the beauty of it is that it really cost me little to no money!  All was purchased from my Ebay selling profits....or as I like to call it Monopoly Paypal money. Sweet!

Anyways I hope everyone is having a great Friday!

Ciao

Becca
